Support a Swarthmore Summer Scholar

This campaign ended on June 04, 2018, but you can still make a gift to Swarthmore College by clicking here!

The Swarthmore Summer Scholars Program (S3P) provides resources and support for first-generation college students and those from traditionally underrepresented groups in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).

During a five-week long summer course, S3P provides students with the opportunities to acquire the academic tools necessary for embarking upon a career in science, to develop mentor/mentee relationships with faculty, and to foster a cohort of peers with whom they will continue to work throughout their four years at Swarthmore. All costs are covered for participants, including room and board, and they receive a stipend to offset the need for summer employment.

Your gift directly supports students who are intellectually ready to change the world but who may need extra academic preparation before navigating the rigors of a STEM education. S3P participants acclimate more rapidly to college life, develop a familiarity with the type of coursework expected at Swarthmore, and benefit from the unique opportunity to connect with professors before fall classes begin. They go on to become leaders in their classrooms, win awards, and embark on cutting-edge research.

Make your gift today to support one Swarthmore Summer Scholar!
